MICHAEL STEHR Lecture

“Caravaggio: Great Innovator of the Baroque”
Piedmont Center is proud to present a series of three lectures by the very talented artist Michael Stehr. The first lecture will take place on Friday, October 26th at 6:30 pm, focusing on Michelangelo.
As Michael describes:
Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio arrives in Rome at the Age of 21, in 1592. He would be identified in a contract written in the early 1600's as "Rome's finest painter," and would emerge as one of the founders of the Italian Baroque. Join us for the second installment of our three part lecture series exploring the artistic treasures of Rome. Art Historian Michael Stehr will be guiding the PCA on a virtual tour through Rome, visiting several churches and galleries, as we consider the work of Caravaggio and his innovations that had an immediate impact on paintings created throughout Europe.
Anyone who has attended lectures by Michael, or been on an artistic, European, learning trip with him can attest to his skill as an educator and wonderful, passionate lecturer on these larger-than-life artists.
Tickets are $10; available at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3639090 or at the door. Light refreshments will be served.
